HOLD TIGHT! Saturday night of Birmingham Hoop Dance and Circus Festival promises a delicious feast for your senses! With a hoop dance and circus performance showcase, a spin with the fabulous musical devil that is Mama Matrix, and a dance floor on which all light-emitting hoops, balls, sticks and good things are welcome!

The evening explodes with a Performance showcase of circus, dance, the weird and the wonderful...featuring aerial hoop performance, Nick Broyd hoop dance, Felicia Noir burlesque, the brand new Bow Peeps' String Circus, and many more. Drink and be merry whilst you marvel at the spectacle and get yourself in the mood for letting your hair down to pretty lights and the bombastic sound of MamaMatrix...

Succumb to feeling giddy! To feeling ALIVE in the presence of these strange musical creatures! Singer Daz Dolczech bellows out poetry fierce as a preacher, irreverent as a storm, whilst Dark Mavis’ tuba lub dubs at the core of the beast - a massive, tarnished heart pumping out a soil-filled rumble channelled from the belly of the Earth. The violectra cradled by the lovely Anka J is a musical nymph hurtling through feverish scales like wind whipping through the Dinaric Alps, and Mike Hurley’s drums are powerful beasts, whose master plays them like a lion tamer. Sinister and pervasive, Murpheus, whose face you will never know, plucks life from his electric guitar strings, a Celtic giant of the apocalypse.
Your heart will synchronise with the sound, your limbs will spasm and jerk in time with the thunder of the drums, you will be moved, and you will JIG AND SPIN ABOUT THE DANCE FLOOR with the musical devil that worms its way into your muscles and bones.  As you whirr around on tip toe and heel, and the sweating, ecstatic faces of your fellow revellers blur into the night, know that you are privileged, for this is an experience you will never forget.

If you spin hoops or poi, throw balls or boxes, or do anything else weird and wonderful like bending over backwards and putting your foot in your mouth, you're welcome to bring this to the dancefloor for an LED jam during Mama Matrix or the DJ set, but your toys should be shiny, or even better equipped with light-emitting diodes, so that they are visible and thus avoidable for other participants. For latecomers, entry to the performance showcase will only be permitted in between acts so as not to put off performers who are hanging in mid-air or concentrating on ninja tricks.
